Artist Grants • Overview

Starting in 2012, $2,000 to $50,000 will be awarded to individual artists, interdisciplinary teams, and organizations across Minnesota.

These grants provide the chance to develop and create projects for a public audience anywhere in the state, receive increased recognition, and advance artistic careers. In addition to supporting artists, grants sponsored by our Regional Arts Council partners support civic and community organizations in the planning and implementation of public art projects in their specific outstate regions.

Our next application deadline is Nov. 15, 2011. Application forms will be available on October 1st.


2012 Selection Timeline

Applications for Forecast Public Art grants were due November 15, 2011. Grantees for all categories will be notified in mid-February 2012. Following notifications, comments from our selection panel will be available to all applicants upon request.

This year will be our first opportunity to award a mid-career public artist project grant, supported by funds from the McKnight Foundation. Our 2012 project grant finalists are: Andrea Stanislav, Brad Kaspari, Lloyd Brant, Randy Walker, and Wing Young Huie. We thank all this year's applicants for their creative and thoughtful proposals and look forward to announcing our project grant recipient in February.

Statewide Public Art Grants are supported by Jerome Foundation and the McKnight Foundation. Additional support comes from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

Regional Public Art Grants are supported with funds provided by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
